Spent a few hours in the afternoon. Weather warming up but no sign of any fish. Still, I had a lovely time and it was nice to get back out on a river. Fished duo and various nymphs tried. Maybe next time!

River running fast and a little high but not to bad a colour, weather fine but cool. Unfortunately as weather warmed up in the afternoon someone upstream of Eyton must have been working on the river as it started to run very coloured and made fishing a total waste of time, I wish we had known this was going to happen as we would have saved our money and holiday for another day!!!!! Needless to say nothing caught or seen.

1 x cock salmon 30 inches, Black and Gold Flying C. 1 foot 2 inches on the Fownhope gauge, slightly greyish colour in the water, and should have been good for the fly. However, I worked away most of the day with a fast sink tip and Black and Yellow tube which had accounted for a couple of kelts at Chainbridge the day before, but without a touch. Changed to the spinning rod late afternoon and was rewarded before sunset, not with a 3 sea winter monster, but a nice fresh silver cock fish from Island Stream.
Reading a report from the previous day prompts me to admit that I funked wading the V into Dog Hole. The notes tell you that you can do it at levels below 1 foot 3 inches, but then I do suspect these notes are written by someone who stands around 6 foot 3 inches in his socks and fear does not enter into his thinking. True grit! Am I right Simon?
Otherwise, it looks like some work is going on to prune some of the bushes on the banks and mark the entry points to pools with stakes. I am sure that will be much appreciated by many, especially when the jungle starts to grow again on the upper part of the beat.
Altogether a very nice day, with the sun shining at last!

A great day. The river was low and extremely clear. 7 of the fish taken were from the tail of one pool about half way down the beat. We spotted the shoal and took the fish on nymphs fishing the duo. Largest fish was 2 lb 8oz and smallest was about 1 lb. Thanks for a great day.

Very cold gusty wind made conditions poor and water temp still quite low. No fish caught and only one feeble bite all day. Should fish well as temperatures rise.

Had hoped for some late-season Barbel action, but the frosty start and low and clear water put paid to that. However the Chub were obliging and I caught steadily
on maggot and breadflake. The river was a lot lower than at any point I saw it last summer!
SC from Oakley: You're very much mistaken, I caught the biggest Chub of the day!

Fishing conditions were ok, the fishing was shockingly bad! 3 people fished all day from 8am till 4pm and not even a nibble. Very disappointed, would not recommend this section.

Fished till 2.30pm with a hope the sun might come out to warm things up, no! Hard going with that bitter cold wind, returned 1 trout & 2 grayling all at 12ins, all on GHHE.
Come on spring pull you finger out.

Not the best of starts to the day after the car door was frozen solid (minus 4.5) when I managed to get into the car. Oh the fishing? 3 bites resulted in 3 chub to trotting/maggots, not a single bite on the feeder. Cant wait for June 16th, thank you all at the Foundation.
