All fish taken on pellet feeder, found lots of places to access the water, river was very low and clear seen lots of salmon jumping a lovely peaceful place to spend the day. Followed the access route as shown on the map which involved walking down the edge of a field planted with crops trying not to damage them, surely the public foot path by the church would be a better route. Stayed at Tresseck campsite in Hoarwithy with the New Harp next door great for a pint to celebrate your catch. All in all a great day thank you Wye & Usk for giving us the chance to fish in such fantastic locations

Fished the first five swims from the pumping station on rotation. Beautiful venue with good access, just didn't fish as well as it looks. 2 suicidal minnows was all I had to show for 11 hours.
If fishing the inspection cover swim about a third out-be prepared to lose a lot of feeders, I lost three in the first hour before I moved.

The final day of our 5 day trip, again the river was low and clear and as on several occasions this week proved very peggy with most of the barbel coming from one swim opposite the wier gardens. Barbel to 7lb 10oz and chub to 5lb 2oz on pellets and boilies. One disappointing aspect was that again as on several occasions this week we had to clear rubbish and discarded line left by previous anglers. If people can't be bothered taking their rubbish home with them they would be better off finding a new sport as they're not wanted in ours. Once again many thanks to all at wuf for their efficient service and the valuable work they do, we'll be back!
WUF Note: We would like to support strongly the sentiments expressed about litter and discarded tackle in this catch return. Anglers must take it home with them. It is unsightly and a threat to wildlife and farm animals. There is a risk of fisheries being withdrawn from day tickets as a result.

River low with conditions overcast. Caught fish from the start and they came steadily throughout the day. Barbel were predominantly in the 3lb range although fish were caught upto 6lb. Chub upto 5lb.
Hooked a Salmon on Halibut Pellet which leapt out of the water and shed the hook some 50yds downstream! A coloured fish.
Great days fishing and thanks to Don the owner for his invalulable knowledge of the river.

Water low, fished for salmon in likely runs & pools for a hour or so without any sign of salmon so switched to downstream fishing for trout and caught and released 4 nice brownies within half an hour on a BH Hares Ear nymph in the water just above the bridge at Llangynidr. Stayed at Llandetty Farm for 2 nights but would not recommend it.
Thoroughly enjoyed 4 hours on the river at Glan-yr-Afon.

Fished from about 14.00 to 17.00. Weather warm with light drizzle to heavy downpours. Water level appeared to be low. First time fly fishing for about 25 years, so was not expecting to catch anything. Imagine my surprise when I caught a lovely brown trout 9"/10". Apart from that did not see many other fish and not many flies about. Thoroughly enjoyed my time, Thanks to the booking office staff. I will certainly be back soon [not another 25 years].

As this was my 1st time fishing running water for trout I was surprised just how small the stream seemed, especially with summer water levels. This meant that there weren't too many pools that I was skillful enough to fish properly. That said this is a very pretty river and the weir pool is perfectly situated 1/2 way along the beat, right where you park up. The perfect place to take a break, eat a sandwich and think about what to try next. It worked for me as I managed to fool a 8" brownie onto the end of a CDC Klinkhammer and into the net from the pool above the weir where the river splits soon after my break.
This fish was in great condition and returned happily back and apart from a few splashy half takes from very small fish and one rather good missed tug in the weir it was all I could manage. I might try somewhere with a bit more room next but will definitely return when I'm better at avoiding catching trees.

Another pleasant day on a favourite part of the river. Water low and fishing slow, there really wasn't much about. Could have done without the folk on the opposite bank throwing stones and branches into the river though!!

Furst time at this venue, there was a few cleared swims and as only 2 fishing at a time it seemed to be enough.
Started at the swim below the steps, lost a barbel at the net, then went onto boy's rock. The fishing was slow on pellet, had a couple of knocks which came to nothing, then switched bait to meat balls and the rod pulled around and a barbel of 10lbs 2ozs came to the net.
For the next few hours we both were fishing with either meatballs or tinned hotdog sausages. Landed 5 barbel and 2 chub, not a bad day. Hope to be back soon.
