Fished the upper Taff from the RSPCA centre up towards Merthyr Town. Lots of midge, ldo's and brook dunns on the water with fish feeding on the surface in every pool. The river looks in great shape since last weeks flood with hardly any algy on the rocks. Managed to catch a 21 inch, 19 inch fish and around two dozen fish up to 1lb on dries and nymph's.

Several fish seen, and I lost another, on for only 20 seconds, on Friday.

Lovely warm late spring day. Water quite low and clear. Lots of mayfly. Only a few rising trout and none of them consistently rising. Caught and returned 2x 6 in wbt. But what a dappled green and luminous place!

A dozen WBT, mostly small with largest at 10". Light breeze and 14-15 Deg. A constant although sparse hatch throughout the day, but not a significant amount of rising fish. All fish were brought up to an Adams dry on 3WT. The beat divides in two. Below the parking comprises a run of small pools which were great fun and made the morning fly-by. After lunch I fished up above the parking which starts more meandering with some lengthy pools and a couple of really dark, deep pools too. There are much bigger fish here than I caught today!

Strong cold wind, river very clear. Large numbers of sedges and gnats, plus a few mayfly and olives. Fish rising but very reluctant to take a surface fly. Six trout caught by Czech nymph method; one of 2.25lbs, one of 2lbs, two of 1lb and two smaller. Hats off to the Foundation for putting in several substantial sets of steps, making life much easier. Anyone visiting for the first time, look for signs of trampled grass, to find these as they are becoming a little hidden by grass etc, but are located, near heads and tails of pools.
