Water slightly coloured with overnite showers. Lost a salmon about 8lb in top of Maddox pool on Flying C. Had fish on for 5 mins or so. Fished on up through with no more salmon seen or showing surprisingly, not even in the Vanstone Pool
Had an enjoyable couple of days salmon fishing will be back soon.
Stayed at the Wyndham Arms in clearwell.

The river was up an inch or two and coloured but didn't look too bad. Managed to catch 3 brownies to 13 inches between the bottom of the beat and the bridge. Returned to the car for sandwich break and on returning to the river found both the heigh and colour had increased. Fished on a while but eventually beaten by the rain.

Area:Lower Wye

Beat:Courtfield

Fishing:Salmon

No. of Anglers:1

Fished Wyebank 1st thing but just a 1lb brownie on the fly just below stream. Later fished Courtfield but nothing caught or seen. Saturday rod and a local angler spotted fish in the woods and in Willow Pool but can only assume they had gone upriver by Sunday.

With the level at Ross showing 0.53 and the river in perfect trim I was hoping for great things.
The top of the beat, right bank, is easy wading at this height being knee to waist deep and with just a little less water I could have made the crossing to the island too. Being able to get in the water and off the high banks is great for casting a shooting head right across the river and the prospects are high.
Not a sniff; fished right through with the fly in the morning, 1WBT of 1lb, and resorted to the spinning rod in the afternoon. Nothing, nada, zilch.
Did find that the last 300yd 'flat-water' glide is easy wading, packed with trout and will be great on a summers evening with a good hatch coming off. So I will be trying again.

Area:Lugg & Arrow

Beat:The Eyton Beat

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

Showers all day so fished for 2 hours in the evening. Water clear, river levels lower side of good. Some fallen branches in the water which are distressingly easy to get snagged on. Nymph mostly and a little dry fly. No fish taken although did see rises late evening. Only fished the upper section but would return - many good runs and holding pools.

Small bead headed nymph pattern used.
Despite overnight rain the river was clear and fairly low, but it was a rainy day with no surface activity at all
Two small fingerlings and two 10" all returned
A lovely day out in glorious surroundings, thanks very much.
