Most activity in the morning, March Browns and Olives coming off sporadically as were Grannom. First fish in the tail of streamy run to dry fly, tups, the next four to weighted nymphs in the faster water. Last fish fell to a black spider on the dropper in the edge of a fast stretch under the trees of far bank.

Pleasantly warm with hazy sunshine all day and temp to over 20C. A brief and sparse hatch between noon and 1pm. Fish less and less responsive as afternoon progressed. Brassy sun and downstream breeze a hindrance. Took a leisurely approach to the fishing, spending time chatting with an old friend and munching local pork pies, so caught 5 trout. The best two were 1lb 8oz and 1lb 12oz, the others less than a pound.

Lovely bright day, river slightly coloured and running fast. All fish taken on nymphs and despite a few hatching flies nothing seen rising. Saw a cormorant part way down beat and what looked like otter prints on shingle area above weir.
Thanks to Wye & Usk staff for the usual friendly and efficient service.

River quite low but perfectly fishable. Bright sunny day with very little wind. Had a 12" brown first cast on a march brown dry from the bridge pool. Two more about the same size quickly followed - these two took a small olive nymph, then lost a larger one just upstream. All quiet for the next couple of hours - a few march browns hatching here and there and some grannoms too. Later on had two more from the flats on copper head pheasant tail. Great day. Lovely beat.

Another beautiful day to be by the river. Unfortunately, although warm, the insects did not seem to want to come out and play and consequently the fish were happy to stay mainly out of sight.
Very few rising fish seen. Those that did rise were shown a fly but only two fish, both under 1lb, succumbed. Successful flies were size 16 para adams and size 12 black klink.

River in perfect condition and lovely warm weather. Darren White caught his first ever salmon at nine pounds followed shortly after by another at nine pounds again form the same spot caught by Wayne Little. A wonderful day helped greatly by Mick as gillie who is very helpful and knowledgeable as well as good company. I hope he has recovered from the evening afterwards! Both fish caught on flying C's.
