Great days fishing. Don Macer-Wright was a great help. He liased with my mate who has also left report. I was into the barbel second cast fished in Legge Meadow. I had 2 of 8lb, 2 of 7lb and 1 of 6lb. My mate had 4, 2 were 9lb plus and a couple of chub. Fished the woods in the summer, good size barbel, prolific stretch, well worth booking!

6 x trout 8-11 inches, spiders with a weighted nymph on the point. An early morning start after heavy showers while driving to Brecon, which I hoped wouldn't affect the river. The water was pretty strong but clear, and fish were quite active. Although it was difficult to deal with a downstream wind and fast currents, it felt just great to be back on the river after all these months. But about 11 o'clock, the early rain had its effect, the level suddenly rose, the river coloured and the fishing switched off. Having forded the river earlier, I found I couldn't get back and had to walk round via the town bridge - something to watch out for under these conditions.

It was so nice to be back fishing today on the Rectory for another season again water was looking really good in the morning but we had a lot of rain overnight so when it came down from the mountains it was unfishable by 2pm but least got the lines wet again no salmon seen or caught but had a lovely brown trout on the fly about 3/4 of a pound bright sliver just like a sewin roll on next week.

First outing of the new season on a new beat as a new season rod, good to be out there wetting a line again, river looked good for the first few hours then rose in no time which made it hard in every way. Met another rod, had a good chat about the beat, picked up some pointers for next time, cheers Brian.
Good maps WUF, helps no end.
