No salmon caught. A nice stretch of river but needed more water - the river was running about 4" above summer level. Saw one salmon but it was not interested in our flies. We did catch 6 trout whilst fishing for salmon on a Stoats Tail, one of which was over 2lb and a nice fish.

Lovely day, river clear but not low, although not much insect life about. Caught one small (pretty sure he was wild) brown trout, about 10-11 inches, on a grey duster. Returned. Clouded over and cooled off in the late afternoon/evening and, despite a few later hatches, feeding seemed to drop off with the temperature.

The weather was perfect but the river was very low and gin clear. Some sporadic hatches but no real interest shown by the trout or grayling. It is late in the season, but I expected to see more activity given the warm weather and overcast sky. A very pretty stretch of river but with very difficult wading in parts.

Not impressed at all with this beat, heavily overgrown access above first weir not good and very overgrown elsewhere. What fish were rising I could not get near due to overhanging branches and vegetation.

Not a sign of a trout, which was most surprising as I had had good sport the previous day on a private beat just a few yards lower. The only fish I caught were five salmon parr.

Fishing was hard, water level was dropping all day. Fish didn't come till late in the day.

River coloured and with good flow at the top of the beat. Small party of Goosanders ( 4 or 5 ) on the water below the wall of Weir gardens when we arrived at about 07.45. Water looked perfect but we couldn't find the barbel and they didn't find us. Fished with feeders and ground bait plus variety of pellets for hook bait including Hinders blitzed elipse. Rod 1 (mine!) blanked, rod 2 caught 3 chub during late afternoon and with the last cast about 19.10 caught a 4lb barbel. Hard work but in a great stretch of water!

Beat:Ty Newydd

Fishing:All Species (in season)

No. of Anglers:3

Day 3 of trip for JD and JE. Joined by MH from Surrey. Ty Newydd proved difficult fish today with little hatch and little showing. Water quite down. JE tactics of nymphing proved fruitful. Trout all over 10" to best at 16". Grayling to 16". Planned to fish later than usual but low cloud cover and temperature inversion seemed to send fish down deep.
