Good day earlier in the year - today blank. Little sign of fish life so tried wets. Saw two pairs of kingfishers so who cares! P.S. Had a break for lunch at the Riverside Inn, Aymestrey - busy but good food/value - advisable to book. Owner said W & U had done some survey work and population quite healthy with salmon parr present. I'll try winter grayling next.

River at 2'6" and too coloured in the morning for success with fly. About 10am I saw a small class salmon leaping on two occasions in different pools. Visibility improved in late afternoon and I had just enough time to go through one pool where I had two offers from a big fish but hooked nothing. Better luck next time maybe? Thank you.

First time Fishing here (11am to 7.45pm in the first swim. Water was low and had good colour but little flow. A snag to my left accounted for 3 feeders until Don came along & suggested casting 3/4 distance. Result was a lovely barbel weighing 7lb 9oz on 14ml halibut pellet. Thank you Don - scenery was beautiful & I will hopefully return despite needing crampons to access some swims after the recent rain.
