2 of us fished 2 days at Foy. 1st day was low and clear, the second still low with a little more colour. Only really two swims fishable when the river was this low which was a shame. Brilliant chub fishing regardless. Fish from 2-6lb on standard feeder tactics and a few eels just mix things up.

The river was lower then the previous week and therefore din't hold so many barbell although the chub were very hungry as usual. Feeder and pellet was the method used. The largest barbel was 7lbs 8oz the others around the 4lb mark. Need some rain to increase river level.

My first time at The Creel - a lovely stretch with the best fishing from the island downstream. The weather was very mixed, warm then windy and wet. I caught my first barbel first cast early doors, then at various intervals throughout the day and my last just before the heavy rain and winds early evening. It seemed to go quiet at the times of the weather changes but a good day on a lovely river, countryside and wildlife.

Overcast day fished the Marl beach swims and also waded. LS waded and trotted with centrepin losing two barbell, one a possible double but caught two chub. Switched to feeder and pellet to land five barbel. PS caught his first ever double barbell - ten pound four ounces and in perfect condition, along with eight others between five pound & eight pounds. Wonderful stretch will be booking a return visit for next year.

Beat:Abernant

Fishing:Trout (River)

Not the best plan of the season so far, to go and fish Abernant when the Llanstephan guage is at 3" (have never fished here when it is quite this low before, nor likely too again I suspect!) when it is also windy and when rain is forecast mid-afternoon. With hardly any fly at all and no rises, except for tiny trout, the session proved a tad challenging(!) and sense finally prevailed at 3p.m. when I decided to head home. However, having fished duo with a HE emerger and FBPTN, I did manage to catch five grayling and eight trout. All of the trout and two of the grayling were on the nymph and three grayling on the emerger. Two of these risen fish, after taking the fly, then induced the other grayling to take the nymph, not once but twice - not unusual of course but always entertaining when it happens. The other grayling was taken later whilst Czech nymphing hard on the bottom, again on a FBPTN. Best trout 10" and the rest even smaller. Grayling mainly 10" plus two of 11 and 12". Very hard, but at least something to show for such an ill-timed session - must try to get the brain more in gear when planning my next visit to the river!
