Lovely day in mid-Wales on a lovely beat I have been wanting to fish for a couple of years. Surprisingly mild and fish were rising from 1pm to 2pm in the long bend pool. I throught they were trout when the classic red tag was ignored. The change to a Ducks dun was taken first cast by a grayling, which then put the pool down!
Between us we brought 7 grayling brought to hand. One of 6oz, 4 between 10oz and 1lb, with 2 around 1.5lb. One on dry, one on nymph and the rest of klink and dink. 6 OSS trout to around a pound as well. Hooked a mid teen salmon on a holo nymph, it was fun while it lasted. The barbless hook should fall out. A couple of other salmon showed in the beat which was good to see.

Not been here for 3 years , great to be back . Incredibly mild day , river looking perfect .
First fish within seconds of casting , and then a nice steady flow throughout the afternoon. No real lunkers today but great sport none the less . All barbel around the 6lb mark , biggest chub at 4lb . All caught on pellet and feeder . Not bad for 5 hours fishing .
Looking forward to returning in the summer

Finally managed to rebook a wash off from September. At 1.11m on the NRW Erwood Gauge, the river was a little high but very clear and very fishable.
Most of the grayling looked identical at about 10”, but a couple might have stretched to 12”. All caught on nymphs, either under a dry fly or straight lined. A few fish splashed at the dry fly, but nothing stuck. The grayling were hard to find, seldom catching two in the same place. All fish returned.
A group of about 10 canoes came through in the morning, and 3 paddle boards in the afternoon.
12 Grayling
