The river had risen about a foot and was in nice condition with a bit of color. Spent a bit of time with Colin, who not only put me in the right swim but is also an expert at pulling swim feeders out of snags! Thanks.
Plenty of fish under the far bank, chub were coming in the ratio of four chub to one barbel. However with chub up to around five pounds, it was hardly disappointing.
All the fish were taken of pellet and feeder.

If the size of the fish is not critical to your sport then this beat is for you. All fish were small WBT in 6-8" range and much fun on a light rod. Lightening quick takes meant I missed a lot too. All caught on small tan Adams or green Klinkhammer against a steady although sparse hatch. Bottom section is fast running stream with frequent small pools. Above the parking the upper section drops below field level and meanders with some longer pools. Not all fish in this river are small - I spooked a very large fish in one of the deeper pools.

Arrived at 10am to find the river flowing with a little colour and extra volume from the rain earlier in the week. I also found a team of 4 goosander working the pool below the upper bridge, so headed straight to the lower end.
Worked my way upstream with nymphs picking up a handful of 8-12" fish. Plucked a couple of bigger ones but nothing of any great size brought to hand. All fish returned safely.

2 barbel to me and one to my old man. River bed was plastered in silkweed unlike my last visit a few weeks ago which made presentation difficult, and it was strangely quiet. Normally the rod is rattling constantly from the attentions of chublets and eels but next to nothing today.
At least the salmon put on a fine display as usual, along with a few barbel with aspirations of flight!

A near full moon, gibbous as they say, and rising early tonight. On a bright night, it's not a bad idea to forsake the Towy for the Loughor, as this twisting and winding stream has so many patches of shadow under its high banks. There are some big fish in since the last spring tide, but just a small sewin of 2 pounds took a Lyn's Secret Weapon, at the very moment the moon went behind a cloud, and proceeded to jump all over the pool. A delightful evening, and the year is getting on now - so quite a lot can be covered by midnight for those who have things to do in the morning!

Really good days fishing, as we got there around 11am which is pretty late first cast an my dad had a rainbow of about 1lb 1/2 then we were greeted by the bailiff who said we either left the boat area or cease fishing for an hour asked why and it was because it was just about to get stocked. Nice enough guy who told us a lot of useful techniques areas etc. Anyway we stopped fishing and watched the stocking commence they put 500 RT of average 1-2 lbs we noticed at least 3 breaking the 5lb mark which is very uncommon even the bailiff said that it was unusual.
After about 30 mins of throwing stones on the water to disperse the fish off the area we were allowed to fish again, literally the first hour afterwards we used spinners and had one every cast thought it was unfair so we stopped for about an hour or two and threw more stones in only fair game otherwise. Biggest fish we had was 3lb the group of people next to us had one of 4lb 10oz that was before they stocked and I think they had their catch limit also.
Great days fishing weren't gonna be too greedy and take more than what was paid for but we could easily have had 40+ but it's only fair on others and to keep the reservoir at its optimum.

Caught fish on spinner(1) and rest on worm. Surprised how much water has been taken from reservoir. Always find rangers pleasant and informative. Excellent way to spend a day. Looking forward to next trip.

A lovely day weather wise, however the river was still rising from the previous two days of rainfall. Fished with meat(tinned ham) and between us managed only five chub and two dace from beats three and four. Two of the chub were five pounds plus. We will return to this very beautiful stretch in an attempt to to tempt the the barbel.
