Arrived to find the river gin clear and showing its bones. No fish were rising so fished it all the way up with nymphs and down again with wets but hardly a touch. We need some rain!

Very low water so we chased trout rather than salmon as planned but even they were very reluctant....or we were very innefficient! Instructor Chris Price was helpful and instructive so at least our casting has improved. The Cottage of Content at Carey was quite outstanding so should definitely be on any list of recommended pubs. Our thanks again for your help. Best wishes!

All in all, a very satisfactory day. The weather was kind and the fish obliging. I was fortunate enough to make the acquaintance of one of the Lydbrook anglers the previous day and thanks to him for the pointers! Most enjoyable was the entertainment provided by the canoeists. 4 boats overturned in front of me whilst attempting to avoid the dead calf in the river! The water was only shallow so no harm done, the only damage being to their pride. All the fish were caught on pellet or corn. The barbel were both small, no more than 3lb and the chub were between 1/2 lb and 2lb. I look forward to returning when ther is more water on. A beautiful setting with some great sceic photo opportunities.

River very low, fished in a variety of swims, bed of hemp and various baits over the top of it produced fish in most places. Had a lovely day in a wonderful part of the world.

Better days fishing, slightly overcast following rain the previous night. 4 fish caught and landed weighing between 6 and 9lb. On the downside, met 2 poachers. I have spoken with Seth at WUF on the matter since.

A really nice beat, looked after by Colin, the very helpful and understanding keeper (my fishing partner likened the manicured swims as slightly overgrown Tee boxes at his golf course) Superb! Fished all day, water levels had much needed rise with colour gratefully accepted. Moved a couple of times and caught in spells, mostly all on pellet/groundbait feeders. With the sunset along the river it doesn't get much better than this. Thanks WUF, your help, as always unrivaled.

Best barbel was 8lbs 2ozs and the chub was 4lbs 8ozs. All fish were caught on pellet. Mixture of cloud and sun with a little light rain. River level was low. The end to a great 4 days fishing. Thanks to WUF for making these great fisheries available.
