At 9am it felt more like March than May. Nymphed north of the A40, got 2 fish around pound each on a Caddis nymph.
Nymphed my way back down to the Cynrig without success.
Made a warming brew on my Kelly Kettle and whilst enjoying it saw the odd fish rising. Put on an Olive emerger and got into a seam of rising fish against the left bank. Caught 3, missed 3. All around a pound.
Moved down to the bottom pool by the style, saw a couple of fish rising but in difficult to reach spots, no luck.
Returned to car around 3pm, just about to take my waders off when I saw a fish rising. Caught a 1.5lbs fish on the Olive merger.
All fish were very hard fighting, all returned .

This is a lovely beat. We both caught fish in the morning at the edge of a deep run on nymphs under a klink. Fishing was harder through the middle of the day but picked up again in the afternoon and we caught fish including the largest trout of the day (~13") and 2 good sized grayling along with several other trout at the tail of a pool. Several fish also taken on dries throughout the day. Also evidence of lots of smaller fish which is encouraging for the future.

Arrived at 7am. River perfect. A 12lb silver cock fish took my Golden Killer just under the bridge on the 3rd cast! A dogged 15 minute fight ensued (with some aerobatics). It was duly measured and safely returned.
Fished hard for another eight hours but only two 8oz trout took exception to the Killer and were safely returned. A beautiful sunny day with only the call of buzzards interrupting proceedings. One or two yellow May Duns hatching.

The river was pretty low and crystal clear, along with bright sun making tricky conditions. Clearly plenty of fish in the beat when seen rising. Lots of Mayfly about, although fish only rose extensively for about an hour (very tricky to tempt and super spooky too) and the river seemed to go 'dead' toward the evening (it got very cool). Two trout lost right at the net! A great day had never the less. This beat is vast and very pretty. It contains a great variety of water in both open and wooded areas with good access all the way along.

Water around 2' on the gauge the day before. Water cleared well through the day having started cloudy. But very bright and a lot of canoes. No salmon seen but a nice piece of water that seemed to fish okay despite relatively high water.

Fished for about 2 hours this evening. Managed to hook one fish but it got off in some roots. Lots of midges in evidence but few rises.

I started fishing the stones around 6.00am and worked all the way down to the Upper lines with out a touch. The canoes started to arrive so I gave up for a few hours. In the afternoon started again in the stones and make my way down, when I reached the Gabions a lovely 23lb decide to take the fly, second cast after releasing the fish I was in again in the upper lines, a good 20 minutes fight before it came off (probably a large fish). Thanks to the Wye and Usk foundation for all the information provided.

A fantastic day, Olives and March Browns hatching, also a fall of black gnats when it warmed up around lunch time.
Saw some good fish moving, could not fool them all. Small CDC Emerger type flies and CDC and Elk worked on the rising fish I spotted.
