Walked the whole beat in the morning resulting in 5 chub from various swims. Afternoon, stayed in one swim where 10 barbel were caught, weighing between 7lbs 3oz and 10lbs 14oz.
Really good beat with so many variety's of swims, will be even better once there is a bit more water.

Lovely day at a lovely location. Fishing probably could have been better but river very low and a hot sunny day. Our own lack of ability also didn't help, however we managed to put 2 Barbel and 3 Chub on the bank using cage feeders and pellets on the hook. Seemed to be a well looked after fishery with good access and plenty of swims to keep me and my Dad happy. We fished a couple of swims on the right bank as you look down stream. Would love to go back when there's a bit more water.

Another poor day with only the top part of the beat above the bridge fishable. Again access bad with no clear paths cut. The odd little sign would help and being related to a mountain goat for access would be an advantage.

Got there nice and early, grey and overcast but not cold. Caught two nice browns in lovely condition, the first was about 1lb caught on a grey wulff, second about 3/4 lb also caught on a wulff. Saw a much bigger one in the crystal clear waters but he was smart and not having any of it. Both fish I caught were returned, great day, lovely surroundings and what more could I ask for.

Fishing difficult, each swim tried produced bites straight away only for fish to vanish! 2 barbel, 6lbs and 8lbs, one chub 4lbs caught. An angler attempted to fish this stretch with no permit and was asked to leave by my partner which he did. Exit on to main road very poor, single anglers should be aware of this an accident waiting to happen.

Arrived, for various reasons, around 2pm and the river looked the lowest I have ever seen it and colored which seemed contradictory. Adam, who I met for the first time this trip said it was due to algal bloom so I wasn't that optimistic. Spent a couple of hours after that first elusive Wye pike to no avail before settling in to feeder fish the evening. Winkled out three Barbel in the end 5lb and 6lb approximately before ending up with the best of the session at 7lb 7oz.

Lovely couple of days on this stretch. We spun all day on the first day casting to the many fish that were moving about in Vanstone Pool. Nothing wanted to know our variety of colours and patterns. On the second day we lost a fish in the Vanstone Pool first thing, had it on for a good 5 minutes before it rolled and threw the hook - est. at 10lbs. I went up the top half of the beat guided by Adam Fisher, I'm not sure what the other reports of poor access are entirely about, there are many access points for wading and perhaps these other anglers are just not looking hard enough? Yes it's very lush, but I was happy with what Adam showed me. We'll be back!
