Lost a fish on the 4th Cast in Colemans when it snagged me!
Had a pluck in Station Stream that came to nothing. 18lb slightly coloured, very well conditioned, hen from Colemans on 1/2" Cascade Copper Tube. Returned safely and went away strongly. One further offer from below Colemans Crib before lunch! What a great mornings fishing
Keep up the good work WUF
Two double figure fish in as many weeks!
Looking forward to next season already.

Inspired by success of MP yesterday I freed up some time and was able to grab 4hrs on the beat in the afternoon. River about 1ft and looking spot on. The residents were splashing in the Vanstone but not playing ball and I saw saw a running fish above the stone just as I started fishing the Maddox. Went upstream and just off the spine in the tail of the Dog Hole the #8 Bann special shrimp was taken solidly by a 11-12lb hen fish that had been in the river a month or so....pewter specked with rose. She gave a good scrap in the fast water. Island felt good and the 2 fish that showed as I was fishing it served to heighten the anticipation, but no further action, and I packed up as the light faded and the rain set in.

Spent a couple of hours fishing deeper water downstream of the sawmill before locating grayling in shallower streamy water. Caught four between 12 and 16 inches in an hour. Unable to locate any more after that. Caught on beaded PTN and GRHE.

On arrival the weather looked as if it was going to be perfect for a good days fishing, however the fish had other plans and we struggled for bites all day managing only to catch 7 chub. A number of different baits and swims tried but the barbel were not having any of it.
Great beat though, which looks very fishy and would produce on the right day.

After a few disappointing trips to the Irfon this autumn I decided to give the main Wye a go. It is some years since I visited this beat and it is as lovely as I remembered it. Starting in the Ciliau Run, I fished a duo with a gold bead GRHE and Klinkhammer with the nymph taking the fish initially. As the day wore on they showed a preference for the dry fly and I caught six grayling up to a pound in weight plus one fit 10” brownie. I finished up at the mouth of the Clettwr and picked up a couple there. I broke on the strike a couple of times and missed many others. All in all a very good day’s sport with the river in good form.

Fantastic days fishing. Warm welcome by the owner who pointed out the boundaries etc. Various methods tried. Switched to dry white winged blue dun's in the afternoon and landed 3 beautiful Grayling. 8, 10 & 12 inches, the last being about 1.5lbs. Stunning fishing, wading fairly easy in most parts and boy do those grayling fight! All fish returned safely. Can't wait to go back. Thank you to the owners and WUF.
