We enjoyed our day here. One of our party hooked two fish on the fly, the first at the tail of the Windmill and second on the Island Pool. This beat has great potential but much of the upper part was difficult to access and at times hazardous to wade.
It would be helpful if the house at the top of the beat was added to the beat map for reference so that one can pinpoint The V and The Dog Hole in relation to the house. It would require a lot of extra work but proper entry and exit points to the holding pools would be helpful and improve safety. At one point I couldn't wade back up river or any further down and couldn't get out. It took fifteen minutes to figure out a safe exit.
It might also be useful to have a gauge on the beat with relative wading options in the notes. All work requires funding I know but it would transform this beat into a top salmon fishing venue.

A lovely part of the river and a very nice beat, but it needs more peg making towards the top end of the beat where the river is deeper and slower, otherwise I feel people will only fish here once, which will be a great pity as the beat could be made very good. We caught 32 barbel between 4lb and 9lb and 6 chub to 5lb on 8mm halibut pellet. All but 2 of the fish were caught from either the very bottom 2 pegs or the the top 2 pegs, with 18 barbel coming from 1 peg near the top end.
The walk up and down the hill is NOT for the faint hearted. This was our last day of our 3 day visit on the Wye, and between 3 of us have caught 70 barbel, and I would like to thank all at the Wye and Usk Foundation for the wonderful service you provide.

Fished both sections from 12pm to 7pm in cloudy, showery and thundery conditions with a light upstream breeze.
Water level and clarity excellent. Only a few natural rises, but some fly life about. I fished dry ( adams ), and caught 4 trout in great condition, best 2 around a pound, plus a similar sized grayling. Must have missed a further dozen. R fished mainly with a nymph, catching 6 with best 2 over a pound. Rewarding fishing, each fish had to be earned making it an absorbing day out, despite the soaking.
