River 3-4 feet up and drinking-chocolate brown. Luckily the weather was an improvement on Tuesday. The passport mentions the excellent access to the water, but that was not the case on Weds - very few accessible/fishable swims (having said that, I would love to see this beat in normal water conditions- then maybe we'd be able to see and access the all important gravel?. Fished opposite the top island due to a combination of accessibility and some (relatively) slack water. Struggled for three barbel to 9lb and five chub -including a lovely fish of 6.5lb - on meat and pellets.

Would not recommend this beat to anglers who take the kitchen sink as the walk back up is quite a trek - travel light! Re the directions: When you turn left off the road from Hoarwithy, please note you are looking for the second of two cottages, and that it is not marked with a name plate - a lady outside said it's actually called Yew Tree House (not cottage). You can see the weeping willows from the road - that's the head of the track where you can park. Cheers WUF, hope to come back down again soon when conditions are a bit more amenable!

This is the second visit to Middle Hill Court and it was better than the first. We had 8 fish between us 7 barbel and 1 chub. They were caught on pellet and boillie. The chub came in at 4lbs 9oz and the best barbel was 9lbs 2oz. My son and fishing buddy (both named Martin) enjoyed the fishing and we intend to return later in the year if we can find a b&b in the area.
many thanks

Had a lovely hour in Sweet's shop talking with Jean and another regular rod about fishing. River low but a beautiful evening to be out in the countryside. Just a sporadic rise. Caught 5 trout between us. Small, mostly half pounders, all safely returned. Stayed till 10pm, no sign of salmon. Water required and no sign of any on the horizon. Time to top up the tan and manicure the lawn.

Very wet so was unable to drive to the bank. The walk across the field was a struggle, took too much out of one of us so just one rod was fished. River was up and pushing hard. 5oz bomb was needed to hold two rod lengths out but the Barbel were still having it. Had 5 to 8lb 10oz, also a few small Chub and one Eel of 3lb.

We arrive with a dropping river after fishing Lower Hill Court the previous day, very bad rain was with us all day long. We got soaked by the time we left at 6pm the river was rising very fast gaining 3 foot in less than 1 hour. Good luck to those who fish today, conditions were horrible and fishing was very hard patchy. 1 chub in the morning 1 fish lost, then about 4 pm we had a good spell and the barbel came on. We had 4 each, 1 4lbs the rest 6lbs, with 2 about 8lbs 6oz by my friend M K. We earned those fish enduring very heavy rain all day. By 6pm we had enough, not bad considering conditions. The day ended with 8 barbel, 3 Chub and 2 more barbel lost. First trip of the year, fish are on top form, very strong long battles on the high water, thanks to my friend for the help BARBOLESCUS.

Water up 2ft. Managed 2 barbel 6-7lbs and 2 chubb 4-5lbs. Testing conditions but a good fishing shelter on the beat to get away from the elements. Great atmoshphere between the anglers there, salmon and coarse. Saw salmon moving through beat that didn't appear to be stopping.
