Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)
No. of Anglers:2
No fish caught on two rods although two were lost during brief encounters. Cloudy but fairly warm day with a fair breeze. One fish took a daddy as it was stripped back for a re-cast and the other on an elk hair caddis in the gloamin. There were some large fish taking something but alas we could not entice them!

I caught three trout but it wasn't easy at all.
I spent all day fishing with dry flies. No signs of rising fish. A lot of insect activity.

This is a lovely stretch with parking right on the river. It was a beautiful day. Tricky fishing but lovely nevertheless.

Fished from 6am till noon, picked up 11 in first 2 hours to single bead head size 18 then the sun rose and only managed couple over the following hours. All between 8-15 inches. 2 at fifteen inches caught in first 15 minutes. Hooked and lost 2 that felt rather bigger than first 2 from a deep pool but both spat barbless hooks. Oh well, they may still be there for someone else to pick up one day. Water levels were quite low as can be expected this time of year. Plenty of olives when I left but nothing rising to them.

Terrible day, beautiful beat, well kept and in good condition, albeit with no fish seen.
Can't cast, can't figure out a sensible plan of attack, can't cast from a left bank, can't think why I put myself through this ongoing anguish. Must give up any ambitions towards salmon fishing before I waste yet more time and money.
Probably won't be back although don't let my inadequacies put you off.

Fished for a couple of hours in the evening, leaving the beat at 7.30pm. Hoping for lovely evening weather after a beautiful day, but the clouds had settled in by the time I got to the river. No rises to be seen and little fly life. Two small trout, each about 6", came to my pheasant tail nymph.

Area:Upper Wye
Beat:Duhonw
Fishing:Trout (River)

Fished middle section, water seemed quite low (not familiar with beat), very overgrown in places, consequently few real chances to get a cast out. Couple of pools fishable so long as approached Red Indian style, caught one brown and lost one more on own pattern nymph (Irfon Bug).

No fish caught. Noticed a man hidden fishing with a float? on the opposite bank of the downstream limit fence and another from near the dwelling/cafe (?) on Cadora pool. Both stopped fishing when I got nearer. Are these people poaching?
