Fished from 8am to 9pm. River was carrying about 6inchs of water but not a lot of colour. We were both feeder fishing and it was hard going during day; after rain in afternoon river rose about 8inches and had a bit of colour, after which the barbel switched on and the bites started to come ending with me having 5 barbel around the 8lb mark and 1 x 3lb chub. My mate had 1 small chub and a large eel. Many thanks to the Foundation and hope to be on the Wye again soon.

We originally booked Perryhill but a combination of heavy rain, access issues and dodgy knees meant we chickened out and booked Wyastone Leys instead. This was the first time I'd seen this beat in the summer, having only previously fished there in March. We fished the faster swims at the top end of the beat - a bit of a struggle really, possibly because the river was just starting to rise after the heavy rain. However we managed to eke out a Barbel and 3 Chub. One of the Chub was a absolute clonker at 5lbs 10oz. Finished early at around 6pm.

Much needed rain graced my day, all day. A fine chub from the lower stretch on float fished breadflake and a good eel of about 4lb late on from the last swim of the stretch next to Vanstone pool. Warning This peg is extremely snaggy.

A new stretch to us so despite the river being low and fish not really biting all weekend we fished for a few hours. It looks a nice stretch. We fished the 2 swims at the bottom of the tree line from where our vehicle was parked. River too low to fish most of the other swims. Nothing caught unfortunately.

It was nice day till 9am when heavy rain started for almost all day. It is long walk. Bigger problem than walking is that you have to go over a field fences to get to best part of the river which is opposite to the garden. Big problem are the bullocks in the first field near the river. Between you and them is only single wire with I guess 12 volts. I had to hide behind the trees and bushes to cross this field, otherwise I think they would attack me, because I could see how they moved and it was not nice feeling. I fished opposite the garden, first 2 chub, then I moved to other swim on the beach at 9am. From that place I caught 3 Barbel, 5lbs, 6lbs 5oz and 8lbs 5oz. Feeder tactic with luncheon meat and halibut pellet. Be ready to lose lot of rigs. Nice place to fish.Thank you
3 Barbel, 2 Chub
