Further rain during the night for 4hrs didn't really effect the height of the river. Conditions were ideal, but nothing much came along until lunch time. 3 barbel were caught 5lbs 7lbs 6oz and 7lbs 12oz and one lost plus a few chub. The rain returned at 4pm and kept pouring until we left at 6.45pm. The swims were very slippery, so please take care. I think the frost and unsettled conditions are not conducive towards ideal fishing conditions.

7 barbel caught mostly on pellet and all in the afternoon. All fish came in the afternoon before and during the rain. We were rained off about 18:30 absolutely soaked and with the river rising again!
Disappointed again to find other anglers on the bank when we expected to have the beat to ourselves.

WUF Note : Caradoc is a beat allowing 4 individuals.

Nice quiet spot with easy parking and access however not worth fishing until the level drops a couple of feet. I was told in a local tackle shop, and also thought myself, that the upper Wye drops off quite quickly after a flood, anyway two days since any rain and the water level didnt drop an inch from dawn till dusk. Two small trout, wouldnt even think about wading, maybe try white water rafting next time!

Well, the water was too high but clear and what a lovely spot to fish. With a foot off the gauge it would have been perfect. Anyway, something new happened to me. Fishing a 1 inch brass tube fly and sink tip to get the fly down a bit I caught a cracking 2lb grayling. Gave me a moment of excitement as it took! Certainly a beat well worth a go again.

River running very high although surprisingly I could still see my boots when waist deep so fished all day. No Salmon caught, 2 good pulls below the Bathing Pool and 2 trout landed over 1lb.

Well I should say here and now that I booked one ticket on the web and the other by telephone and paid a kings ransom for the privilege. To rub salt into the wound Don the owner thought I had booked just the one ticket! This made me very embarrassed. Please make it easier to book two tickets on the web or explain how to do this! Anyhow the fishing was not great with a frost in the morning and the river being up 5ft. We settled into the area where the stream enters. One barbel for 7lbs 8oz was our reward. Still you can't bag up every time.

WUF Note : Wyebank will allow a party of two anglers known to one another but not two individuals - hence the reason for having one rod reserved for telephone booking only.
