The last time that I fished this beat was June 16th 2011 when access to the river was somewhat limited, so it was nice to see all of the new pegs that have been cut, this contributed to a wonderful days fishing. Roving tactics with stick float, centre pin, castor, maggot & hemp seed resulted in catching many salmon parr, brown trout, grayling, several chub between 3 and 5lb and one barbel of around 6lb.

Nice stretch of river. We caught 3 barbel about 5/6lbs each, 2 on luncheon meat 1 on bread flake. I think the river would fish better with the water at a higher level.

River in beatiful condition fished the Hut Beat in the morning and Colemans in the afternoon. Both contain some breathtakingly beautiful fly water but unfortunately no fish were forthcoming. A couple of fish were seen and a 22lb fresh fish was taken by another rod on the Dukes. Ray was helpful and I will coming back for sure.

No fish caught between us. Missed two takes early on while it was still misty but the sun came out and the trout went and hid. Steady hatch of olives from late morning to early afternoon.

First time on WUF waters, picked a really nice day for a change. This is a lovely bit of water - managed to catch 7 barbel between 5lb and 7.12 all in excellent condition and boy do they scrap. Fished mainly with pellets and hemp. All in all a great days fishing and I'm off to Lower Ballingham tomorrow to round off a great trip so far.

1st of 3 days booked on Courtfield. Had problems and didn't get on the bank until 15.30 but still managed four barbel including a superbly conditioned 10.04, and also a brace of 5lb+ chub. All from Legg Meadow on elips pellets behind a groundbait feeder.

An overcast but not cold day we had planned to fish float and maggot until midday and ledger with big baits until dusk. We caught eight chub between us in the morning and six trout. The largest chub were close to 5 lbs. At about 12.30 debris started to come downstream. At first we thought this was clearance from an upstream bridge but it got worse. Huge islands over ten foot across with so much small debris in between that even float fishing became impossible. Ledgering was out of the question. It looked like a farmer upstream was clearing his fields of floodwater flotsam. We sat and waited until 4.00 and things had not improved so we packed up early and went home.
