Area:Usk
Beat:Ashford House
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
This started off unpromisingly with rain and chocolate water but amazingly by the afternoon, a little sun and the fish near the wall didn't care about the colour of the water. One landed and two lost using a dry olive, olive nymph and a pheasant's tail.

Area:Lower Wye
Beat:Goodrich Court
Fishing:Salmon
No. of Anglers:1
Mis-timed an evening assault on the river. Height up to 2 foot at Fownhope and quite coloured, although still a couple of feet of visibility so not impossible. Fished Corner Tree and Vanstone carefully with no result. No salmon seen but had wonderful views of an otter and her young cub. Tremendous fly activity at dusk, caddis and spinners (Yellow Mays?), which brought a few trout and chub to the surface despite the extra water and colour.

Area:Middle Wye
Beat:Whitney Court
Fishing:Salmon
No. of Anglers:1
Got there at 2.30pm. Had already been warned by Terry it was high and coloured so may not be worth going, except with a spinning rod. He was right! Walked the beat for half an hour just to have a look and left at 3pm.

Area:Upper Wye
Beat:The Rectory Fishery
Fishing:Salmon
No. of Anglers:2
Fished all 12 pools of Rectory beat. One rod with fly ( cascades, willie Gunns, Black Wilkinson etc on floating line ) other rod span ( mepps and yellow belly). One salmon c. 12lbs seen cavorting in tail of rock pool . None taken or touched. Weather dry! and warm with a barometer bouncing up and down between 995 - 987.
River - Brown and high though falling. Wading possible throughout and with studded boots - ok.
Do not know which/where gage relevant to this beat is but am certain that with less water and more clarity the results are good.
Very pleasing and accessible water and notes and map clear. Thank you

Fished 4pm to 7pm in strong wind and rain. River colouring up and rising according to the sticks I put in the margins. Fished PTN but no takes, more to me feeling miserable and not trying to hard I think. Great to be out in such wonderful scenery.

Area:Upper Wye
Beat:Edw Aberedw
Fishing:All Species (in season)
No. of Anglers:2
Three days on the Edw, starting at Aberedw and working up all four beats to Hundred House. The rain put some colour in each morning and we managed only a few hours each afternoon as it fined down (before the next downpour). That said, it fished well to Klinks, Adams and Nymphs and we had 6 trout each day between us. All small wild brownies between 4-10 inches.
