River in excellent condition but no fish even touched a fly at all during the whole day! Watched at one time as two grayling simply moved out of the way of the fly and then returned to station. Beautiful environment, excellent weather, lovely water - we hope to return despite our poor performance but I think it was the same as other fishermen on that day!

A slow start at the bottom bend pool with just a Chub to show for my efforts. Moved upstream and found some Barbel feeding, 4 nice fish between 7 and 9.12lbs. Still waiting for my first Wye double!

3 barbel, 1 chub caught on flavored luncheon meat. Had to leave early to drive back to Suffolk. Saw a mink swim past me and all sorts of wildlife, kingfishers being my favorite. Will definately return here as soon as possible. Love the Wye!

Four chub on Cheese paste. Following on from TS who fished Sugwas, I too have taken home other people's line nearly every week this year. It's not hard to put it in your bag.
Note to WUF, forgot to say last week that someone has broken the barbed wire in the middle field at Perryhill. The beat really does need a few stiles put in place before the land owner gets upset.

With the river being up and down all season so far it was great to get onto the river with the level just falling. Fished in the Meadow swims. The temperature had gone down overnight to 3c so conditions were not ideal. We used a selection of baits from pellet to luncheon meat and boilies. In all 3 chub and 1 barbel were caught. The chub were all between 2-3lbs. The barbel was caught by E and weighed in at 8lbs 12oz. P lost a couple of barbel with hook pulls. The last one seemed to be a monster. Never mind he will return for sure.
All of the babel came during the afternoon. The pike should be starting to feed now the river is fining down plus the chub should come out to play too.

River looked in good condition - 3 foot or so below recent levels when I have visisted, a little colour but not too bad. Lots of rubbish coming down. One small chub for our efforts.

Another tough session on Sugwas court, barbel not very obliging. Only one chub of around 2.5 pounds caught between two anglers, variety of baits tried including pellets, corn, maggots on maggot clip and meat. River was dropping and looked fantastic, couple of disco canoes(music blaring) went past to add to our misery although probably didn't affect the fish too much as they must have been elsewhere.

One bite, one chub on maggots but apart from excessive number of pheasants and a pleasant day. First time on beat, parking a problem as field not available due to ground conditions.
