1 chub (3.5lb) and a minnow. 1st time on Wye, found it difficult to find good "fishy" looking spots (water levels very low), Paths marked on map from the hut had overgrown. Also did not want to upset landowners by trampling vegetation down to waters edge so ended up being rather static in a couple of spots. Still will learn more over next few months.

Last minute decision to try this stretch late evening, excellent choice. Pleasant evening with broken cloud and sunshine, slight breezy, plenty of fly life. Fished on the dry all evening, with a olive spent mayfly taking 5 brownies, ranging from 0.5lb to 1.25lb.
Large brownie around 3lb taunted me for some time, but resisted the temptation to switch to wet / nymph. Heavy rain arrived at 9.30pm so called it a night, can definitely recommend this stretch!

We fished on and off all day with 2 barbel and a chub for our efforts. Static and roving approaches, mixture of baits - the barbel just didn't want to know. They spawned in April so unless they have had a second round of it then it was inexplicably quiet. Lovely to be back out bait fishing on the river.

2 x trout 9 and 13 inches, Grouse and Claret and Cochybonddu. Another cold and windy evening.

A pleasant opening to the season. Great scenic venue. 3 Rods caught an equal mixture of Barbel and Chub throughout the stretch. Thanks to Colin for his feedback.

Fantastic little beat - a dozen chub up to 4lb. The barbel are there if you can get through the chub.

Barbel,chub,eels all caught on various baits and methods. The balsam has established itself well. A lovely time had by all. Special thanks to Martin.

Three sea trout caught on a small silver stoat, largest about 18 inches, (2lbs ish). All released. Great fun.

Nasty downstream wind. No fly No rises. 3wbt, all small. 2 dace,and 2 salmon parr. All on nymphs.

A bit of a strange day weather wise - got colder as the day went on and there were squally showers. All of this unsettled the fish.

Have to wade carefully at the moment as have gammy leg so some areas out of limits. 10 wbt to 12" not our most impressive total and unfortunately neither of the newbies with us managed to break their duck. The action tailed off as the day went on and not a grayling to be seen. Who tipped them off it was the first day of the season I wonder?

But a lovely beat as always!
