Sorry to say, no fish caught this time, partly due to the fact this was the first time in about 20 years that I have fished a river and partly helping a friend with mobility issues. (Enough excusses) Despite this, we really enjoyed the day. Half a dozen canoes passed by during the morning, and as soon as they spotted us, they kindly moved to the other side of the river until they were well past us. There was quite a lot of colour in the water and it was running quite fast. There were a few weed beds in the place where we fished (near the upper limit). We experimented with various baits and rigs without success. The weather was breezy, but when the sun popped out from behind the clouds, it was quite hot. The river banks were accessable in the spots marked with wooden posts and we didn't notice any litter. Parking was so easy, which my friend really appreciated. A top notch day out.

Though the sun shone it stayed cool down in Clettwr canyon. Assorted flies did hatch but not enough to get the trout rising. Perservered with Klinks and Paras and got interest occasionally, but only managed to land 3 to 11". Always like the challenge of this mountain stream though!!

Arrived mid morning, 1 angler fishing the most accessible swim halfway along far (Right) bank had already landed 4 Barbel. Opted for L/H Bank and fished last swim which was difficult with only minimal hard standing. Started ok with an early chub (that took me atraight into the big snag but evenyually swam out again) but then frustrated throughout day with lots of Chub bites to no avail until 5pm.
As mentioned here elsewhere large snag about 1/3 rd way across just before overhanging tree, eventually found most productive area for bits was almost midway across river (though difficult to cast to). In next 2 hours had 2 Barbel (7.5 biggest) and 2 more Chub with bites more confident in fading light. All caught on pellet feeder. Now I know the stretch would be inclined to go back with a more mobile/roving approach as 3 or 4 good swims on each bank.
Very enjoyable venue - be careful you dont drive past the bridge, it's well concealed !

Nice day (too nice?) with clear water and clear sky. Despite this, we managed 9 barbel and 3 chub from 6 swims dotted about the fishery. Despite gloomy reports from some, this seems a good beat with reasonable access and a fair number of open swims.

Water conditions appeared good but no salmon caught or touched. Maybe I can blame the bright sunshine? A few fish seen moving but no great number.
We stayed two nights at Gromain Cottage B+B which was fine and convenient.
