Beat:Foy Bridge
Fishing:Coarse
No. of Anglers:2
My first time at Foy Bridge and a great day to finish the season. River was very low and gin clear. Tried 3 swims on both banks and took fish from each. There is a major snag about a third of the way across the bottom swim on the near bank, but this was the most productive spot - you need to fish at least half way. Managed 9 chub to 4.5lbs and 3 barbel to 9lb. All on small pellets - not a touch on maggots or meat. Lost biggest barbel, which was a good double, about a foot from the net! Definitely somewhere you need to get to know, but well worth another visit. See you in the new season!

Beat:White House
Fishing:Coarse

I prefer this beat with the water at least a couple of foot up from current levels, when the top swims usually fish very well. In any event with anglers occupying swims on the opposite bank at the top end, we had to settle for the lower end of the fishery, where although there are barbel in most swims, they do not appear in great numbers. This proved to be the case today, and we ended up with only one barbel between us at 7lb 5oz.

Area:Lower Wye
Beat:Courtfield
Fishing:Salmon
No. of Anglers:1
P.C. had a great first day fishing Courtfield catching a brace of fresh salmon at 15lbs and 24.5lbs (38.5") Sturdy scale, the twenty a beautiful full bodied fish. There is a picture of this one in the net on www.lowerwyefishing.com. 2 good kelts also caught made this a pretty productive day's fishing. Numerous jack pike were something of a nuisance but still kept the line tight!

First time on the Wye and always difficult to get to grips with a new stretch but I managed 4 Chub all around 3-4lb from Rock Pool and further upstream.
Beautiful days fishing and worth staying on until dusk as bites increased then. Will be back.

Area:Lugg & Arrow
Beat:The Arrow, Arrow Mill Fishery
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
A cold, grey wintery March day with little signs of insect life and even less signs of fish except for some scales left on the bank by a local predator. My first visit to this fishery and I will be back when the weather is warmer and the life, both insect and fishy, are little more interested.

Area:Lower Wye
Beat:Middle Hill Court
Fishing:Coarse
No. of Anglers:2
River was low and lightly coloured. We fished the upper part of the beat for a few hours for just one small chub.
We then moved to lower half and caught 21 barbel, mostly in the 6 to 8 lb range with the largest at 9lb, plus a few chub. We then moved back up to the upper part for the last couple of hours but only managed 1 more barbel, ending up with 22 barbel in total, pretty much equally shared between us. Additionally D caught 2 decent chub which we weighed at 5.04 and 5.08 at "last knockings". A fantastic day for the time of year - will keep us going until June!
