The weather was kind to us and the fish clearly appreciated this too as we had 13 barbel, 17 chub, 4 WBT & 2 grayling between the three rods. 12 of the barbel fell to one rod with the best going 8.05. All the fish were taken on maggot fished on a 3-4ft tail in conjunction with small maggot feeders. All the fish were taken at the lower end of the beat. We also had a slight incident concerning some youngsters who decided to start pitching rocks into our swims from the high bank opposite us. Fortunately it was short lived and soon stopped.

My brother and I arrived at the Courtfield beat for our first ever Barbel session. Within 3 minutes of casting out my brother had landed an 11lb 3oz Barbel, in great condition. Over the next hour and a half we also caught two Barbel of just over 7lbs each. The action then tailed off, before picking up at the end of the day when we had a few more bites. All in all a great days fishing, looking forward to next time!

Beat:Ty Newydd
Fishing:All Species (in season)

A cool, overcast day with very little sign of rising fish. Two of us shared the beat and took a steady stream of trout and grayling on leaded bugs fished either in the French or Czech nymphing style. A total of 17 fish most of which came from Ciliau run.
