Very low water (around 0.6 on the Brecon guage). Plenty of fish seen nymphing in bottom of deep pools. Managed one beauty of around 2.5lb (safely returned). Pricked/lost three or four other good fish all on a size 18 wieghed tungsten nymph. Very limited LDO hatch which I think was due to the very low water as I have seen excellent LDO hatches on this beat at this time of year.
Anyway a fantastic day from the point of view of wildlife and river beauty!

VC - 6, GB - 3. Fish 1-2lbs All taken on dries, Klinks and CDC shuttlecocks. One fish of 3lb plus lost. A steady hatch of Grannom during the day grew to the snowstorm proportion around 6 pm when the wind fell away and it got noticably warmer. Sadly GB had just packed up when that occurred! Given the amount of Grannom hatching the numbers of fish rising were fairly small.

Nice beat with easy reach of The Crown. Water was very low and clear with no fishing showing but managed to take 1 x 12" and 1 x 10" brown on a size 14 LDO. Also had a few on upstream PTN nymph.

Delightful stretch of water, though access a little dificult with waders. Weather was good but water seemed a little murky. Didnt see any sign of rising fish, managed to loose 3 in some of the deeper pools. Great fun.

3 fish to the net in total. Lost a few others and seen a good few more. Water was low and clear and hardly any bugs coming off yet. Still a beautiful day on the river.

Minus 0.5 C on the car temperature guage as we drove past Lucton School at 07:00 hrs. A postively balmy + 2.5 C when we parked at Sned Wood 10 minutes later but, Jeez, it was cold in the river (especially when venturing past the Plimsoll Line).
The cold - together with the bright sun and the clear river - may go someway to explaining the relative paucity of fish. I finished up with 4 Grayling - including a very nice fish of around 1.5lbs - and 3 Trout. All on nymphs. Sporadic dry hatch in the afternoon - but I only saw one fish rise all day. Tom (who suffered a holed wader)will file his own report!

Catch = zero.
Very little sign of life in the water, but river was pretty low.
Beautiful day for walking & wading the river, if not fishing. A few small insect rises in the realy afternoon, but no fish following them.
Still beats a day in the office!
