Lovely autumnal day on the Wye. Nice colour but river was up and pushing through, difficult to find some slack, however , managed a few fish, a couple of feisty little Barbel in the 3 to 4lb bracket and a 9lb 10oz beauty and a rather handsome 5lb plus Chub. By the way, who's pinched all the ropes?!!!

River still very high as per yesterday’s influx from Wales , it took me a while to settle as An Angler was on opposite bank to a swim I fancied so I did the trek over heart attack hill and settled in this field / woods where wife broke her wrist a few years ago on my last visit!!
The afternoon was lovely , I was settled and fished my heart out , should have had a lot more Chub as missed loads but was really hanging out for a bonus Barbel or two so stuck to my guns and was rewarded with another Wye PB of 9.6 ! Chub were all quality in 3-4lb bracket , Eel was a pit of a pain at last knocking as net and jumper covered in slime and rig tangled , but oh well it’s part of the territory when feeder fishing Meat on the Wye !
Terrific day although one observation is that bottom field seems to have NO swims unless you are goo d at climbing trees ! (Obviously NOT recommending).
Thank you Wye and Usk for terrific day once more !

One knock early in the day, then nothing. River in partial flood, deep and very fast flowing making wading difficult, plus a tree across the river not far up the beat that added to the problem. It was too deep after the weir, so only the lower section was available.

Lovely setting, will go back for another try later in the season.
