First River Wye blank.
Numerous baits, tactics & swims tried to no avail. Even so, had a great day in a beautiful spot.

Water levels were manageable again after the amount of rain we received over the beginning of Jan. Managed to euro nymph without a great deal of extra weight on the line, point flies we’re getting down just fine in the flow. Caught 2 Grayling and one out of season Trout. All fish quickly released on barbless hooks in the net.

A first day on the river since October courtesy of the autumn storms. A chilly 3.5C, gauge at 1’6”, probably a little too high still, but clear.
As at this time last year, the river seemed to be devoid of any grayling today with the whole length of the beat below the bridge being fished without an offer.
An OOS brownie caught late on in the flats saved a blank.
A fine, crisp day to be out though with easy wading on the boulders and bedrock, the spates having given the beat a good clean out.

Lovely stretch of river but after the recent floods and fall in temperature I was happy to manage a couple of fish.
