Last day of our trip to Whitney Court and fished beat 2 again in the hope we would gat at least 6 hours fishing in before travelling home. Again weather very hot and the water gin clear but we managed to winkle out 3 Barbel to 5lb and many small chub plus a cookie of roach. With buzzards circling above and 6 sightings of one or 2 resident Kingfishers the day was not to disappoint. It needs to be noted that the walk to this beat is very long but accessible for those of a certain age and minor disabilities like me. The Agents house, guest house/B&B was a massive bonus and highly recommended.

Got there at crack of dawn and was absolutely beautiful on the gravel beach area at far end of the swim. Not a sole in sight……until about 11am when it was apparent this wasn’t private land as I might have expected for £70 for me and my son, but in fact was the local splash zone for the locals. Gazebos, inflatables, dogs, swimmers.
Became un fishable. So thought we might aswell have s swim too- which was lovely.
Water was very low and clear. Car read 37 degrees!
We moved to another peg, but conditions were against us.
Barbel was 7 1/2 lb.
