Conditions looked perfect - 1 ft 3 in and clearing water, not too hot - but no sightings of salmon. The odd trout, some with freshwater lice

First time reccie here and fished initially upstream of the foot bridge below Vaynor curch. Great parking here btw and decent path down from the left side of the church.
Went upstream from the footbridge (half/three quarter mile?) , hard work with the wading for sure and your really socked in.
Not many decent runs found tbh but moved a few on a foam beetle. Too fast for me though on the rise!
Found out late in the day that a footpath runs from the footbridge downstream a long ways on the left bank of the river going downstream.!
Ambled down to the viaduct before leaving, some much better runs and pools for sure but some bushwacking still to get on them!
Give those a go another day.
A really lovely valley up there for sure. You'd never guess that the busyness of Merthyr is just down the road.

River high and coloured compared to the level during the very dry spring. Fished dawn to 10:30 then 19:00 to dusk. Need 2oz lead to hold bottom. 1 Chubb around 1lb 8oz at 06:15, luncheon meat. Hardly a tap otherwise. tried many baits and locations.

Beat immaculate, thank you for mowing a path etc.

1 Chub
