First time on the river for many years - nice to be back! Abundant trout activity in the evening, all rather quiet during the afternoon. Missed 2 takes on the dry fly. Good beat with excellent vehicle access along the bank. Plenty of water variety here: too much to cover in a single day. Recommended.

A bit sad to say I gave up on this one.
Didnt even get past the mill leat and on to the main river , very socked in on the banks with heavy brush (which I dont mind too much ) but it just looked pretty endless and getting thicker tbh and it was a bum slide to get in to the water for sure but with no signs of an out!
Access further along via the road was a no go for me with no footpath and much fast moving bank holiday traffic
No mayfly seen either so pulled out and went further upstream on the Arrow.

Dropped in for a quick evening session on this very peaceful beat I find and the water was chugging through very nicely here and with just a tinge of colour. Access in general and parking still good here too. Very quiet with no real fly and fish initially but some may spinner and olive spinner came out late on and a few fish moving. Had just the one to hand , a good fish and the usual Arrow loveliness. Bounced a few more off too, hey ho, and was fab to see a sizeable number of Swallows shooting up and down the river mopping up the spinners for a good while so you just have to stop and marvel at them and had a very up close and personal encounter with the Otter late on . Stuck its head out of a weedbed at the end of the rod tip.!
All just marvellous stuff!!
