7 beautiful trout, one of which was a stunning 20", caught on barbless cdc dry flies. All released. I used an 8'6" 3wt rod, 12' tapered leader and a 3' tippet length (6x). The river had settled down after some recent rain but was showing a bit of colour, although it was a surprisingly chilly 12C when I started fishing at 10:00hrs.

Very quiet session in the morning, perhaps caused by the stained water after the recent rainfall. We did find a few trout and decent sized grayling in good numbers, in the afternoon. Mainly caught on peeping caddis and beaded nymph patterns.

Not a bite all day. I guess the fish were not hungry unlike me.

A lovely stretch, with some delightful trotting water. River with reasonable flow and fairly clear. A bright sunny day for the most part, only occasional clouds. Trotted meat baits, with a centrepin all day. Tried runs at the top of the beat, lower down (opposite the pylon) and at the bottom (just above the confluence). Most chub were around 1lb, a couple touching 2lbs, and one fish around 3lbs. Sadly no barbel.

Only one angler fished today. Water carrying only slight colour after recent rain. Good access to lower half of the beat but ran out of time exploring top half. Lots of fallen trees making progress up the stream difficult in places.
8 wbt on gold bead nymph and 2 parachute adams, with a couple of long range releases and a few missed splashy rises. 4 fish in the 10-11 inch range with the rest around 6 inches. Great fun on the 4wt 6.5 ft rod.
