With my Covid symptoms gone we were 4 again today but I travelled alone and stayed up or down banks from them.
A bit sunnier in spells than yesterday I'm told but river still had a nice tinge of colour and was over a foot up on norm.
We all caught barbel, which is my top criteria for a very successful trip, from 4 different swims between the top and bottom of the beat - two with 6, one with two and one with a lone 7lber. One of the two was a real beauty of 10lb 04 and a first ever barbel double for happy Steve, so happy that he actually wrote woo hoo in a message, unheard of for him. As usual no one was near him to take a photo. Two of the 15 were babbers but all the rest 5 - 7lb apart from Barney. We were all lazy and stuck to feeders but the flow was lovely and the runs clear enough so the float would have gone through nice, maybe next week. All the barbel came to pellets. Biggest chub 4.08.
A great day on our favourite beat, thanks WUF and despite not seeing him today, great work from Stefan.

It was disappointing that so little of the left bank was fishable; this was not made clear in the notes. There is only about 200m (the first field) from the fishing hut and the the bank is too wooded to access the water. This led to some wasted time walking long distances on the left bank to try to find opportunities, and then switching to the right bank in the afternoon, whereas it would have been better to take advantage of the longer fishable stretch on the right first then perhaps switch to the left bank for just the evening (or ignore it altogether).

Thoroughly enjoyed our days fishing and the river was in good condition. All of the fish were caught on meat and the Barbel was in mint condition. Fished above and below the woods. One thing I would say, is that the fishery would benefit from at least another six swims being formed. Anyhow, many thanks for a great day out.
