Touch ledgered Halibut Pellet and Luncheon meat. Open ended feeder with heavy hemp and spicy sausage mix. Float (stick) picked up two decent Chub on breadflake. Barbel ranges from 6 to 10.5 lb, two 10.5 lb fish taken in consecutive casts just before Island swim. Water was warm, relatively low and clearing by the hour. Lots and lots of canoes. One party must've been made up of 30 people. All OK, but a little bit tiresome.

Beautiful spot - reservoir level high and rising. Though several fish were seen to jump they declined all we had to offer. We spent the day on the West side near the old stone piers. This was our third and last days fishing - we had a lovely time - albeit not many fish caught. Fishing Passport is a wonderful scheme making access to these special places very easy - especially with the help offered by their friendly staff. The supporting documentation is also excellent. Thank you.

3 pan-sized ( although returned) trout on trad. patterns. Various fished but all taken on Welsh patterns - Haul y Gwynt (2) and the other took Y Llew Bach. It was indeed sunny and windy!

Always seems to be a hot sunny day when I come here, and today was no exception. River was nice and full, so very different to previous visit.
Intermittent downstream wind.
All caught on nymphs. First 2 fish were lovely, holding in shallow water.

River up at 1 metre on the Erwood gauge so we headed up the catchment. Was pushing through here at a fair old rate when we arrived bit it dropped a couple of inches through the day…. Dam water perhaps?

A few fish rising in mist of the usual spots and catches were shared around every pool. None of the clonking trout this time but most of the grayling and a couple of the trout were around the 15” mark …. Nice fish, but the best was a 17 inch grayling.

Starting to feel like autumn… come the evening the temperature plummeted, there was a mist coming off the river and breath was fogged. Car sensor said 10 degrees!

Another wonderful day in paradise….

4 Trout, 11 Grayling
