3 Trout

Lovely beat . We fished lower bit with Nymphs in the afternoon and then upstream with dries in the evening. Alas all to no avail. Did see fish rise in the pm. Conditions bright and not too warm.

Fished the Lower part of the Strathmore Estate from Middleton in Teesdale. Generally a good day. Weather 19 degrees with part cloud making it a perfect day to be by the river. Due to low rain river was at good flow and depth for wading, go to just above knee hight at the deepest. Catch was slow, only 3 brown trout in the 5 hours we were there, but as a South African it was the first time I had caught wild Brown Trout in the UK so big smiles all round! I used spiders and dries as recommended, I was fishing around a full moon and the May Flies appeared to be at the hight of the their hatching period.

I look forward to coming back for the salmon

Clear blue sky, flat calm.
8am start by dam wall few riding fish seen taking buzzer Nothing caught til late morning then 2 trout and 2 perch on a damsel on fast intermediate. One final fish approx 2pm deep on a yellow and peach booby. All taken at the canoe launch site beyond the locked gate.
Left 4pm as i was a bit sunburned (left sunscreen at home).
Reservoir is very full atm, so not much available bank, lots of what is there taken up by families with bbqs throwing stones on the water for their dogs. Suspect I would have had more joy had. I been fit enough to walk up to the bird hide bay or the top end as there were a lot of stone fly and damsels around and maybe a few caddiss in the morning.

River very low, few mayfly around managed to land one fish around 10 inches and lost 2 others. Tough day!
