First visit to a beat that's clearly very well maintained, including work done on the woodland pathway at the upper end.
Thanks to Wirral angler Alex for taking the time to pass on some of his detailed knowledge.
Had a couple of touches on nymphs but didn't make viable connections!

River clearing up nicely after last week's rain. Trotting red maggot resulted in 11 grayling. Ranging from 8-12 inches topped off with cracker of 16ins. Also had 5 trout, 3 in very nice condition, 2 looked they had recently spawned.
Good to meet TH from Swansea. Hopefully you have more luck next time.

Fog on the Wye- Grayling were shy! We didn't catch up with the shoals- we might need to cover the water more quickly.

Cold, foggy and damp all day which was a shame because it kind of spoilt the beauty of this place. Water still a little high but going down but what suprised me was how clear it was. I parked at the church and walked almost to the top of beat before I started, which was about 9am. Never had a bite at all until 1.30 and when I did it was a trout hooked in the dorsal so that hardly counts as a bite! . 1 very small grayling caught later on and 4 trout to 14" further down sums up a very poor return for this fabulous stretch.

Cold day, river still rushing though. Fished the first field, for the first time. Met the bailiff for the first time as well, nice to see someone putting in some hard work in to making more swims. After all it's not cheap. Lost a few chub today, down to using too long a hair I think. Fishing for Barbel. Did enjoy it, even if the banks are still more than a bit slippery. Caught all three chub on luncheon meat. The first two were about 3lb. But at about 3.30 pm, I had my biggest Wye chub. 5lb 3oz. Really pleased. Ps I wish there was more parking available.

12 x grayling 6-15 inches, 1 x chub 4.5 pounds, 3 x out of season trout 9-12 inches, trotting. I think the water was warmer than the air today, which resulted in continuous fog throughout the valley. It was so thick by mid-afternoon that it was a problem to see the float, so packed up early.

Foggy all day long. Temperature around 4 degrees celsius, water clear but still could be lower to have an access to winter grayling places. Used French leader and managed to convince one chubby grayling on a long distance and one trout on a short line in shallower waters. Hard work but great fun and beautiful misty nature.

River was high, banks were dangerous too, due to the heavy rain recently, in fact I slipped in, it was a good job I had my waders on, and managed to grab the backside weeds. The track down to the car park was also extremely tricky…we had to push ourselves a couple of times to get up the hill to leave. The Chub were caught early afternoon, both on the feeder with a pellet…weights were around 1lb and 3lb, both in excellent condition.
