1 Barbel, 6 Chub

Return for R F of Buckhurst Hill. One barbel within 20 minutes of arrival, the second one came just at packing up time!

First time i had been there so not sure what to expect.
A very beautiful small river fairly difficult access but once in very easy wading. One small out of season trout on size 20 ptn in the morning. After lunch and a well needed glass of Merlot a few fish rising on lower part of the beat and manage a graying and another out of season trout on a small sedge all safely returned

2 Trout, 1 Grayling

Another great days fishing on this stretch. Moving around to find them was key.

Biggest 10lb exactly.

Just 2 anglers fishing

8 Barbel, 15 Chub

No fish. One coloured fish showed bottom of the beat and a smaller fresher fish top of beat.

lovely day at wyebank. Needed to downsize everything to get the bites and for a while it was a bite a chuck when the shoal of barbel moved in.

Easy to get to when water level is normal by wading along the shingle bank

Lost one feeder to a cut off but nothing to snags I think you need to beef up your main line and feeder length and keep casting to the same spot all day

no weed all in all a lovely day river level was perfect with good clarity

13 Barbel, 2 Chub

Arrived with sun breaking through the mist. River a bit low with 0.48m on the gauge. Beat looking beautiful as usual. Had a very firm pull from a salmon on a Curries Red Shrimp on Upper Rock but it didn’t stay on.
Saw a 5 lber leave the water halfway down Rock Pool but it was unreceptive to my overtures. A lovely couple of hours. Then decamped down to Newbridge to fish after a very high tide. Lucky enough to catch a slightly coloured 10lber on the same fly in bright afternoon sunshine. All in all a lovely day.

After reading recent catch reports we expected a cracking day but alas not to be. That’s fishing!!
