I think most days on the river end up as score draws. Today was one. The weather today was a nice change after all the hot weather with a cool cloudy morning giving away to hours of proper rain. So most of my fishing today was with nymphs with about half of the days fish coming before lunch and the other half in late afternoon in the rain. Biggest fish today was probably around a pound and half but I lost one slightly bigger right at the end. A very good day nonetheless on one of my favourite beats. Water temperature, by the way, was a steady 15.9 degrees C all day.

Conditions were very good with clear medium level water and fish intermittently rising and feeding on the surface to a hatch, egg layers or spent insects. The best fly was a small dry olive or small gold headed nymph on a klinkhammer duo. Either way the day ebbed and flowed with fish activity that kept me interested at all times. A fantastic day with the final catch result being 6 fair sized brown trout to the net and many more missed chances. The best fish being a 14" beauty at the very end.
A wonderful introduction to the river Usk.
Bob Clark.

Actually fished llyn cwellyn. Incredible day in heavy rain. All caught wading on trad wet patterns. Bibio and hoppers causing most of the action. Hatch of olives by the bank, caught on a march brown jingler to imitate. No fish taken.

Water very low and clear. Probs 2-3 feet down on levels. Saw evidence of one fish all day. Very easy access and casting but as a consequence there’s absolutely no decent cover for the fish.

The lower stretch of the beat seemed to have a lot of sediment , and I didn't see sight nor sound of any fish. Moved up the three bridge by the bell and the was the odd fish rising , the one I caught fell to a size 16 emerger pattern

Cloudy at start of day, really lovely conditions. Wading is difficult even with the low water. 3 caught on nymphs
I think I fished half the beat before the rain came down and drove me home
