It was good to find all the gates open, apart from the barbed wire-topped beat entrance. The knotted twine holding the gate to its post is virtually impossible to untie.
This gate is a potential health and safety issue. It has to be climbed and continues to present a threat to less nimble anglers (and to fishing waders). Can Wuf come to a better and safer arrangement? The system used at Gromain accessing Dolmeudwy, a coded padlock, is safe and works well.

Lovely spring day on the Upper Wye. Llanstephan gauge at around 2’, river clear with visibility of 3ft.
Fished the main spring pools twice with a mix of flies off a medium sink tip. Water temp around 8C and warmed a little through the day.
Trout were a by catch. one thin, two in good shape.
Probably a bit early yet for a salmon as none off the river so far.
The hut was very comfortable and beautifully situated above the Mill Pool.

Beautiful day and a lovely stretch of river. There were both LDOs and March Browns coming off, but no fish rising. Strange.
I managed to rise 3 fish and catch one -- an immaculate wild brown trout of ~ 1lb.
I looked upstream and it looked like tricky wading (at this height of water) so I just recce's it for future visits.

River still fairly high at 0.576 on the Brecon gauge. Two or three bursts of fly hatching trout rising from 12.15 for half an hour or so, then all quiet. Warm and sunny. Good to see some improvements to access. Electric fence keeping in the bullocks in the first field. Japanese knotweed getting a grip at the top of the beat.
One fish caught, but it was a good one. 17 inches and very fat. Good to see this beat still produces some good trout.
