We couldn't risk the drive down the hill to the river without a 4X4 and its a big walk from the top of the hill and back. Nice beat though but there could be anglers on the opposite bank. River in nice condition/colour

Standard feeder and ledger tactics. Attempting to avoid the smaller fish with bigger baits. Two nice barbel - the biggest went 9lb 5oz. All fish of a decent stamp.

River was high and coloured but I thought worth trying for sea trout.
Nothing caught.
Access to the river is difficult in the middle of the beat at Llyscothi Farm. High barbed wire in places and banks overgrown with bramble and balsam. I couldn't find a way through a hedge to the upper part of the beat; needed more time to investigate.
The farmer's wife told me that they see very few anglers these days. Maybe that is to do with the access issues?

Another poor day. Fly & spinning from 0900 to 1400. Cloudy & breezy. Water level is extremely high - at winter level. Caught one rainbow on a Mepps no 1. Not a touch on fly and nothing rising. Been fishing here off & on for over 50 years, never had so many bad days as the past couple of seasons.

Beat:Llwyn Corner

Fishing:Salmon

River was looking good. 0.46 on the Usk guage and rising slowly but still pretty clear. Had a really good tug in the salmon pool and moved a coloured fish lower down under the trees towards the corner pool. Nice bit of water for few hours fishing.
