Bright warm day, 0.2m on Llanddewi gauge. 2 parr picked up on nymphs from the faster sections of water, a couple of better sized brown trout hooked but lost. Late afternoon as it was getting a little darker landed a ~13" Grayling and 14" brown trout from the head of a fairly slow run with a lot of tree cover. Both fish on an olive dubbed body, bead-headed nymph with a soft hackle (size 16 hook with 2.8mm bead). Fished 3'-4' under a NZ style indicator.

3 anglers on the bank. 2 sharing a swim and rods. River just over the croys and running through fast (in my opinion and experience). Bank side paths well trodden with a few more 'dangerous' parts. Plenty of flat sections in the bank to fish from of various sizes.

Lovely afternoon's fishing in late season. Stuck with the dry fly and lost a decent fish. Can't wait to visit again.

We caught throughout the day, but spent a lot of time just trying to find swims that were fishable / accessible. A 4x4 made exploring easier. Caught some big barbel with 6 of the 12 caught going 10lbs plus.

Fishing:Trout (River)

First time fishing the River Tees. Wasn't sure how to fish the rocky sections, so stuck to swinging a pair of traditional wets down and across on the slower water. Very windy on the upper beat by Crockley Bridge, so headed to the Dent Bank Beat in the afternoon. Pleased to pick up a couple of brownies on both beats and there was always enough going on to keep things interesting. Wading was treacherous for the uninitiated, but it was no problem fishing from the bank. Really enjoyable day's fishing and look forward to returning next year.

Beat:Abercynrig

Fishing:Salmon

It's been 15 years since I first went to Abercyrig, then Dinas & Abercyrig. I'll never forget that day; late September doing my last ditch trout fitshing for the year, when the river rose, and I saw my first salmon run. THere were fish swimming through and we had maybe 40 or 50 sightings. It was that day that lead me to become a salmon fisherman.

Here we are, years later, and today, I did not see a single salmon. The water was quite high but dropping and, in this respect, good for salmon, but nothing. I think it's wrong to even bother trying.
