Sunny periods, 12c stiff breeze. Fly tricked down 12-4.30. Jingler did best

A memorable first visit to this wonderful beat. Insects hatched and fish rose all day. Best fish were 17”, 16”and 4@15” with most of the rest 12-14”. All on dry fly and nearly all targeting rising fish.

Great beat. Hard fishing. 6 small trout on Nymph.
All the instructions and description of the beat were correct.

Brief session before dark, trying to tempt the rising trout with yellow mayfly emerger patterns. Success just before packing up, with a very fine 2 1/4lb specimen.

Got to this beat 12.30 colder than I expected 12 degrees. started to wonder down to the bottom of the beat a saw 2 rising fish manage one 2nd cast of the day on a F fly half a dozen cast later the other one came up and totally rejected it how odd! anyway changed fly to a greenwells glory and did manage to winkle to more up. I did go the opposite side of the road for a hour which given more time I would have stayed longer as there were fish rising all in difficult places.Great fun ,easy access but a word of warning the bedrock on the lower part makes wading tricky.

A generally cloudy day with a few early sunny spells and some consistent flt hatches resulted in 7 fish between us. One of circa 14 inches, and the rest around 9 and 10 inches. A really enjoyable day except for the really difficult access which seems to be the norm now on a lot of the Wye Usk foundation beats unfortunately.

Water in perfect conditions didn't fish until very late due to travelling good hatch olives n large brook dunes yellow may duns all fish taken on dries
