Very few active fish but the water was crystal clear so maybe they saw me before I saw them. All fish came from the pool just below the bridge at Capel Bangor and all caught on a size 18 Griffiths gnat. Beautiful river.

Great little beat, perfect for a quick session in the evening. Caught 1 very small trout parr on a pheasant tail nymph. Caught a rising 5" trout on an olive dun dry fly and a rising 5" out of season Grayling on a size18 black spider dry fly. Good amount of fly life.

BBC weather forecast was for a gentle breeze and warm …. So of course like most things on the BBC it’s made up and we had a strong wind with cool temperatures! Didn’t deter the trout though and I managed five after switching to a midge tip for more control and using a Gold Head Hares Ear on point with two diawl bachs on the droppers. Fabulous place - end of !!!

This is an interesting beat, only fished the top half but plenty of interest. Opposite the hut (Parsons pool) had fish rising when I arrived, could not see what they were taking so put on a March Brown and waded in…. Not easy wading in this pool but did manage to land a small trout. A more experience person of someone comfortable with deep wading would, I suspect, have had many more!

Just down from canal bridge had another couple, one on a weighted nymph which was quite small and another later in the day on Klink in the faster water which was a very decent fish.

All in all a lovely beat and once we get some rain should perform well, great day out.

Fished from 11 to 5, Mill Stream and The Rectory. Used various size Cascade and Willie Gunn. Even tried my blue Charm popper. Did see one nice trout jump in the Rectory Neck plenty of very pale colour flys hatching but nothing rising. The rock pools are teeming with fry.
