The water is very low and some blanket weed developing already. Briefly hooked a fish in the neck of the Vanstone. A few resident fish showing in the Vanstone early and late in the day. A flood or two is needed.

The river was on its bones. Quite a waste of time and money. Fishing passport let me down and esp. the admin. charge.
Bucknell is full of bullocks so another warning not to bother.

2 smaller fish, 1 nice one. All alive and well. Plenty of expressions of interest. Bit windy and a bit smelly at the top of the beat- needs some rain. All told, a lovely day.

Back to one of my old favourites !!!! Parked up at ten and tackled up ... did notice a few olives on the go from the off so on with an eighteen Parachute Adams see how the mop flops !!!

Good fun from the off ...... stealth required here like at the Whittern ... but careful presentation had me five this morning . I only fished up to the weir... water low but trout are looking up !!! Sizes this morning the usual stamp , between eight and ten inches .... lovely splashy takes too ... I did miss three corkers too !!ohh well thats life ....

The huge tree down across the river half way between the bridge and the weir could do with either a walk way around it now or some other solution .... I'm nimble but it's still dam hard work to negotiate .... maybe thats why it isn't as popular this year !!! Who knows .....

Anyway , still a cracking three hours and actually some good sport !! Stayed on the same Para Adams all the way up to the weir ..... lovely job .. on the walk back down it appears the field is crops this year and not those feisty black Aberdeen Angus.... that's a plus factor.... a fun morning back here soon !!

River very low. Overwise conditions were good - lots of fly life hatching in lower part of the beat. But not a single fish or rise seen in 3hrs
