After dropping temperatures and 2 overnight frosts at the weekend we thought that this might be a Wye trip too many this year. However it was mild as we left with a light SW wind, and the level down to 0.45. It was a little clear but not alarmingly so. We thought it was a very low chance of barbel but we should be good for a chub or two.
We started at the top end but after 2 and a half hours neither of us had had a bite using various hookbaits so moved.
This worked and the afternoon session produced 7 chub each (11 of which were over 3lb) and a lovely 9.06 barbel for S.M. My biggest chub was a big pb of 5.14 so well chuffed! He fished gb feeder and meat. I fished a maggot and hemp feeder. A great November day's fishing. Thank you WUF ;o)
The only very slight blight was 2 canoeists moaning like mad at anglers thinking they own the river! Smile and wave boys, smile and wave....

Good fishing at the top of the beat today with four of the fish in the 10-12”region. A short very chilly session and with it not being a day for changing a fly with numb fingers, all were caught on a#14 gold head GRHE.
Sadly, we saw a badly diseased cock salmon in the island section which wasn’t going to make the spawning area.

Weather - clear , cold and frosty first thing . River low and clear . Line freezing in rings till midday when cloud cover came
Method - trotting .. red maggot
Returns - hooked 9 fish , lost one trout , lost one very big grayling .. had seven Grayling all over 1lb the biggest were 1lb 15oz 2lb 1oz, 2lb 1oz and 2lb 3oz which is a dream session for me
Other observations - because of the boundary fencing and high banks be prepared to Wade across river and back again to get from one field to another but thigh waders suffice easily for this in the low conditions. Great fishery and a big thanks to Allyson for assistance

21 x grayling 6-16 inches, 1 x out of season trout 14 inches, trotting. A cold, grey day, but the river is in condition. Three good ones, but grayling of all sizes turning up here, so it seems like a healthy population

Clearing water, fewer leaves in the river and 1'2" on the gauge. Surely there'd be grayling about! There were. Had eight between two of us. Two bumps all day for me... but my fellow angler got all eight of them!

Pellet and feeder tactics were tough today and in hindsight we should have taken a bucket load of maggots! Lovely beat. Cold morning start and bright sunshine probably didn't help but a nice day nevertheless.

A freezing cold day with ice on the already slippery rocks, so I was rather cautious and failed to find any grayling.
