Second day of good water level and flow but very clear. Fishing the seams of beat 4 left hand bank with feeder and pellet produced good if small chub for both rods and later in the afternoon each rod caught excellent barbel between 8 and 10lbs. Yet again Whitney Court doesn’t disappoint. Can’t wait for our next trip

With the river level dropping and becoming clear it was a tough day. However a nearly 2 lb perch in perfect condition thought it was a barbel and took a pellet on the retrieve! Just one barbel caught along with 4 chub. Lots of end tackle lost to snags.

Second of two days fishing again fishing in the woods. Another Eel first chuck and then the luncheon meat was put away. Continued with fish meal boilee that has done well for me everywhere. Nothing doing except a couple of plucks but at least no more Eels. This did not feel like a prime Barbel river that I believed it to be.

River looked in perfect condition, a bit of pace and nice colour. Full of anticipation of catching a few barbel, but it was not to be. Tried various sized pellets and boilies. Caught 6 Chubb to 3 1/2lb on pellet and meat. Plagued by a very active pike all day which probably hindered my chances. I will try again in the hope of a red letter day on this lovely beat.

Water at a good height, but a very dark black colour, not the usual brown colour for this time of year, and the river looks strange with no weed.

Tough day today. River looked good, it had a bit of colour, weather was overcast. However found it really difficult. Saw a few anglers on the other side of river. None caught so it wasn’t just me. Lost a fish in the morning, nice barbel of about 8lbs in the afternoon…………… not another sniff though.
