Fab weather. River in great nick, strong and gin clear. Wading with caution. WBT caught between us from 11AM til 6PM. Sizes 8” to 12”. French nymphing in faster water at bottom of beat and near waterfall. Single tungsten PTN did the job. Fished right at the bottom. Beautiful beat.

River had a nice flow and was pretty clear but didn't spot a fish or see a fish rise all day even though there were mayfly sedge olive trickling off. Tried various drys nymphs to no avail. That said it's a sunning beat.

First warm, calm day in weeks! River has really benefitted from the recent rain. Running clear and still dropping slightly over the course of the day. All the algae has been flushed away.

PTN in the morning but a sporadic hatch from around 14:00 caused switch to dry fly. Hatch a mixture of olives, black gnats and pale wateries. First mayfly of the year (for me at least) emerged - to be grabbed by a wagtail. Four nice trout from the bottom of the beat on a #14 Dark Olive.

Note new sheep fencing is being installed along the bank. Access to the top flats is over the style or a long wade upstream. May get easier as levels drop futrher

River was still coloured from recent rainfall. And although I've had many a successful day on this beat, I blanked. Nothing seen all day, apart from a kingfisher. I do wonder if Im getting too old for this beat and another years growth of overhanging trees made it very difficult to fish.

Weather was fine, but only 3 rising fish spotted all day. Had one on a Mayfly, one other on something small white and scruffy. It was in a back eddy so hard to cast to. Footing quite tricky in places - take care.
