Fished off the boat today we had plenty of fish mostly to dry flies. Most of the fish were browns up to 2lb which were all returned. Great days fishing conditions were overcast with a 10mph NW all of our fishing was up the top end of the lake. Not many rainbows caught which seems a bit strange.

Fished the church pool, weather bright and warm and very few canoes. Chub a mix of chublets with several bigger fish 3 to 4 1/2lb and barbel lucky to scrape 1lb. Good stretch but limited swims, worth a revisit later in the year.

Fishing on old Clytha today. Started at 8 in the morning till 12.,nice whether and fish is rising. Hooked one trout but lost it while landing. Nice beat whit plenty of fish and stunning wildlife. Looks like heatrow airport whit all the kingfisher flying around. When its possible i’ll go fish here again.

This stretch is very overgrown and if the river had been higher then it would have been virtually unfishable! There were really only two areas worth fishing and those were the two larger pools mentioned on the description. The river was well coloured due to a little rain the night before and there was some encouraging surface activity. I fished with a dry dropper. On the first pool I caught a trout which was about 10inches on the dry (aggressive take) and a small grayling on the dropper. Activity stopped quite quickly as the water was almost completely still. On the second larger pool there was also some activity and hooked a much smaller trout on the dropper. Had a larger take but came off and then after about 15 casts the pool went quiet.
As with pretty much every river in the area - needs a good drop of rain!

River very low and snaggy , 2 barbel largest 5lb and 8 good sized chub were caught between 4 rods.
Usual pleasant day apart from a few inconsiderate canoeist passing through.

Plenty of fish bubbling all over the pool but no bites and no fish caught as a consolation saw plenty of wildlife visit the lake throughout the day which included Heron, Buzzard, Pheasant, Hare, Kingfisher, Skylark, Wood Pidgeon, Swallows, Collared Dove and Red Kite.

Will definitely be back hopefully with more success
