Great day on the Wye ( to be honest ask yourself would you rather be home or fishing on the Wye ) . After the early downpour the fishing improved and in between watching buzzards and kingfishers and a family of gooseanders we had lots of bites. Best Barbel around 8lb and best chub around 5lb. Back soon.

The team down to fish Glandwgan had to cancel last minute so just 2 of us fished Rhosrhydd. Typical summer day in Wales, we arrived in heavy rain storm. When that quitened we deliberately fished different styles, me wet fly and Ben dry fly. When the sun broke through occasionally we were seeing rises . I caught 1.5 lbs on mallard and claret point fly midmorning and we both had swirls and splashes. While eating our sandwiches the sun came out and three fish rose. While still chewing Ben covered the nearest fish with a black palmered dry fly and caught a lovely golden trout around two and half pounds. After that the wind changed to NW my and it was noticeably cooler. I had a tug and a swirl but that was only sign of life. We packed in at 1615 having had very pleasant day

Not much water around, despite the recent rain, although there was a bit of colour coming through. Chub were attacking baits, but real bites were difficult to find. Kept fining down the tackle until a stonking bite developed and got cut off on the rocks - lesson learned!

Cloudy and still, good fishing conditions at first - then it poured, then it became hot and sunny. All fish caught in the morning, went completely dead later. All fish nice healthy brown trout, safely returned. Not brilliant access- the fishing from the slip and dam was accessible but the banks were overgrown and steep. Noise of the road not bad, but as a result never felt any wildness at the place. All fish caught on small imitators.
