8lb Cock salmon from Ross Angling Club's Weirend Beat to Jon Daniels. Fish in superb condition. Caught spinning with a flying C, as fly fishing was impossible because of a nasty strong upstream wind. Jon also reports another salmon lost further down the beat sometime after his first salmon.

Horrid weather. Wind & Rain. Top end of the lake started to colour rapidly from late morning onwards. Several good fish to the net however, stuck to the road side bank. Fish came to traditional wets on a sink tip, clan chief being the top fly. Fish between 1/2lb and 1 3/4lb.

Arrived at the Rectory beat, water was in great form with colour and height , although it was raining heavy. Started about 7am and by 11am the river had risen fast to a wash off situation. The fishing hut at the rectory was nice to sit under the veranda and chill out for a couple of hours getting dry, I was hoping the cooker was working to make a brew, plenty of gas but alas no joy. The fire had gas also but this was not working either. Didn't see any salmon show ,hoping the river drops soon to get back up.

Fishing Passport Note : Thanks for the nfo on the hut. We will report.

Water .61 m and weather fair with brisk W wind which eased from 2pm.
Fished with upstream dry dark olive initially with up to 4 fish rising and landed 2 of these both around three quarters of a pound just off the sill. The other two did not respond so retired for a sandwich and changed the fly to a lighter olive pattern and landed a beauty of close to 2lb. retired again and fished through below rock to the alder with floating line and single partridge and orange spider. No takes, so returned to original spot on dry to find another fish in same spot as previous fish. However, this one refused the light olive and iron blue size 14s so switched to a 12 march brown and bingo, another ilb+ fish.
What a great afternoon's entertainment. Weather deteriorated from 4pm so packed in at 5 with no further takes.
