Great day , river was very high , and had no choice but fish the margins but managed 3 good size barbel on pellet , fished beat 4 and 5

3 Barbel, 1 Chub

Nice beat in beautiful countryside, wasn’t as tranquil as I would of liked as road opposite was quite busy all day. Beautiful woods behind the meadow swims and at the end of the beat. Hard fishing today water was pushing through. Started in the second wood swim and kept getting snagged and reeling in blunted hooks. Having not seen the beat when the water is low I was unsure of what was down there. Lost a fish as it got in the flow, I couldn’t stop it and my line parted as it rubbed against an underwater obstacle. Tried usual feeder tactics and rolling meat all day throughout various swims but to no avail-water was too fast today and I was underprepared. My mate winkled out a pristine 6lb 8oz on rolling meat in one of the meadow swims. All in all I would like to see the beat on calmer conditions. The amount of debris coming down was surprising -even a whole tree at one point!. We was concerned about egress as the route down was steep , we was in a Renault traffic van but still managed to get out quite easily without any issue.

Beautiful location, lovely weather conditions but high river was rising fast. One of the chub was 5lbs++ PB, and the barbel were 7lbs and 8lbs and fought like hell in a fast flow. Not too many fish, but a wonderful day on the Wye nonetheless.

very muddy .not so windy and rainy,river still up trees and a dead sheep floated past.2 barbel caught my missus had a 8 lb barbel.and i had a whopping 12 lb on the dot !barbel a biggie for the wye. stunning. fish. also a 5 lb 2 0z chub in perfect red fin condition. well happy

River level high, struggled today had 2 bites all day.. lost 1 and landed 1, both on casters.

11 Barbel, 2 Chub

4 Barbel 6 to 9 lb. Conditions tough due to rising river, rain and wind. Only 1 of us had success with all fish falling to small 6mm pellet. Excellent venue and will be back.

River high but steady, windy and raining most of the day. 2 barbel caught and 2 lost from swims below the wood using mostly meat hook baits.
