A little windy & cold but river was at a great level.
A very nice easily accessible beat with a nice mixture of pools and rapids.
No fish rising which was probably to do with the temp. One small trout caught on a gold head pheasant tail nymph

We used one rod to target barbel with a feeder and the other trotting stick float with maggots. While we had no luck on feeder there was plenty of action on the float, catching mostly good sized dace and a few chub. Overall good day fishing.

A mid afternoon to evening session in bight, cold and blustery conditions, no bites and no fish seen...not even the usually obliging Wye chub..very strange..!

Slightly colder air & water temperature with quite a brisk breeze today , whipping up a few waves on the water. Sunshine & very clear water all made things difficult . When the wind dropped at about 5pm we had a few bites with one decent barbel of about 9-10lbs.
An extended lunch break was called for & what a beautiful place to have it. Swans were in good form with regular RAF style fly pasts, Kingfishers busy in the sheltered 'backs' & still a flock of Sand martins doing the circuit. There was a good hatch 5pmish when the wind dropped & even a couple of trout rising. We saw a cormorant very, very high up suddenly go into a 'stoop'-type dive, twisting & turning as he fell, down to the far bend in the river; I didn't know they could enjoy themselves...they always seem to be slowly flapping from A to B looking rather depressed.
Good day all round despite the lack of bites early on. If I had a memory I would have remembered the strand of barbed wire stretched across the top of the exit gate; Difficult to see in the dark & things do bleed as you get older.
Thanks all once again for these opportunities.
